Raw nuts and seeds retain all their nutrients and are the ideal choice for a healthy diet, but they are also the riskiest to develop organisms that will make the product unsuitable for consumption. It is necessary to maintain them in the refrigerator during the warmer months of the year, and even in winter their preservation in the refrigerator is the safest option. Attention: in particular, for the transition period to new crops (usually September through November) and according to our suggestions, it is advisable that fresh domestic nuts, especially almonds and walnuts, remain outside the refrigerator and in an open container to be adequately ventilated (eg. Bowl). Due to the moisture that may still be present in some of the fresh fruits, there is a risk that if closed for days in a package they will develop microorganisms that are harmful to our health. What is also worth remembering is that all nuts and seeds are kept fresh for longer when they are still inside their shells (e.g. walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds), while when in the form of kernel, they oxidize and lose their freshness much faster.
