The sunflower is widely known mainly thanks to its nutritious oil, nevertheless the seeds of this flower should not be underestimated. The cultivation of sunflowers has been forwarded in the last century in the Northern Greece and more specifically in the Evros region.
Most of the people have related its consumption with times of relaxation and cocooning, but on the other hand they are not familiar with its precious nutritional value. This tasteful snack is rich in protein, carbohydrates, and dietary fibers, but most of all in Ω-6 and Ω-9 fatty acids which are crucial in controlling human cholesterol. Try to consume it as it is or add it in your breakfast, your cereal bars or even in your salads.
